The new policies listed below are per the regulations of the Child Care Health Consultant Program Director, Maternal and Child Health, Office of Public Health.
A child shall be excluded from the facility if any of the following conditions exist:

• Temperature: Oral temperatures of 100* F degrees. Temperature increases due to teething will be determined and taken into consideration
• Symptoms & signs of possible severe illness such as unusual lethargy (sluggish), uncontrolled coughing, irritability, persistent crying, difficulty breathing, wheezing or other unusual signs
• Uncontrolled diarrhea or increased number of stools, increased stool water and/or any stool not contained by the diaper, pull up, underwear with two (2) stools in any period of time and/or blood or mucus in the stool
• Any episode of vomiting in the previous twenty four (24) hours
• Mouth sores with drooling
• Rash with fever or behavior change
• Untreated conjunctivitis (pink-eye) with purulent (white or yellow) drainage from eyes
• Untreated infestations: scabies, head lice or other infestation
• Abdominal pain: (stomach aches) intermittent or persistent that occur on a regular basis with for no apparent reason
• Runny noses: runny noses with a yellowish or greenish tint will require attention to ensure any sinus infection (sinusitis) is being cleared in a timely manner
• Tuberculosis: A child will be excluded until a health care provider states that the child can attend
• Impetigo: A child will be excluded until a health care provider states that the child can attend
• Strep throat or streptococcal infection: A child will be excluded until antibiotic treatment has been started, fever has subsided and a health care provider states that the child can attend
• Chicken Pox: A child will be excluded until six days after onset of rash, all sores have dried and crusted and a health care provider states that the child can attend
• Pertussis: A child is excluded until five days of appropriate antibiotic treatment is completed and a health care provider states that the child can attend
• Mumps: A child will be excluded until nine days after onset of parotid gland swelling and a health care provider states that the child can attend
• Hepatitis A virus: A child is excluded until one week after onset of illness or as directed by a physician and health department when treatment has been administered
• Measles: A child will be excluded until six days after onset of rash.
• Rubella: A child will be excluded until six days after onset of rash

Children experiencing any of the above mentioned symptoms, signs or conditions should be excluded from child care and should have documentation from the child’s physician explaining illness before returning to facility.  We reserve the right to refuse service if sufficient documentation is not provided.

Unspecified respiratory illness, shingles or other conditions: A child will be excluded without sufficient documentation from the child’s physician.

Please do not send your child to school with any of the following conditions:

• Cold in a contagious stage (severe coughing, green/yellow runny noses)
• Sore throat and swollen neck glands
• Undiagnosed rash or skin eruptions
• Fever (we cannot disperse fever reducing medications)
• Ear Infections
• Tonsillitis or any communicable diseases
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea

Children experiencing any of the aforementioned conditions should be kept home. If you’re contacted to pick up your child due to one of the aforementioned conditions, you should keep the child home for a period of 24 hours past the last episode and with sufficient documentation from a physician.  Please be mindful, this policy is for the well being of ALL children and staff members and will be strictly enforced.
